Roosevelt Park is a stunning MetroABQ Historic Landmark, one of 21 designated by the city, designed during the Great Depression & created by an arm of the WPA. The park is an impressive 14.78 acres with the best-known frisbee golf course in the southwest. A lot of folks arrive in the park on April 20th--4/20--for an impromptu yearly peaceful gathering.
Weekday food truck Gatherings-In-The-Park opportunities are catching on in neighborhoods with prominent parks like Roosevelt in Silver Hills/Sycamore. The fledgeling Scrumptious Thursdays is a weekly evening picnic/gathering that is probably what Tasty Tuesdays looked like when it began over six years ago...
The park itself is varied: open fields & wooded areas, cliffs & level walking paths. It's incredibly shady with 80 year old mostly elm trees & views of the West Mesa & some sports fields used by CNM & APS. It's a great walk around the park during the day.
